Sherwood Copper Corp., Yukon

Pelly area

Sherwood Copper owns and operate a Cu (Au) mine a few hours north of Whitehorse west of the Yukon River.  I’ve spent a number of weeks at the property logging drillcore, supervising drilling/logging and writing a geology report.

The deposit is hosted in low-angle shear zones which crosscut a Klotassin-type granodiorite.  Mineralization is predominately in the form of chalcopyrite & bornite with accessory malachite, azurite and chalcocite.  It is associated with additions of silica (quartz), K (biotite and feldspar) and magnetite with lesser carbonate and chlorite.  No consensus has been reached regarding the genesis/deposit type of the mineralization at Minto.
