I spent approximately two months in the summer of 2010 mapping and assessing the gold potential of several properties in the Bissett area of Manitoba.

Much of the mapping focused on Archean mafic/intermediate volcanics, greywackes and gabbros cut by narrow shear zones and plumbed by copper-gold bearing quartz veins. Demagnetized gabbros where cut by shears were a particularly favourable site for mineralization. Smaller mapping projects were also completed in the Beresford Lake area (mafic volcanics and iron formation related gold and base metals) and the Vanson area just outside Bissett. Gold in the Vanson area occurs within a package of variably amphibolitized and mylonitized mafic-intermediate volcanics at a tonalite/granodiorite contact. Shear zones proximal to the contact may be spatially related to thin mafic dykes and mylonitized tonalite panels.
