In 2001 the OGS ran a small mapping and exploration project in the Heaven Lake Greenstone Belt north of Thunder Bay.  I spend the summer as a junior field assistant, helping with mapping, sampling and cooking.

The geology is dominated by mafic volcanic rocks intruded by granites, gabbro/ultramafic bodies and diabase dykes & sills.  Its proximity to the Lac Des Illes mine makes it a prospective area for Ni-PGE mineralization.
